Hello dear reader!

Today we are going to talk about this service and whether it is worth the cost of your investment. This is an underutilized marketing strategy that many, especially new business owners don’t know about.

SEO stands for Search engine optimization, which in summary means, how well your domain is set up to appear in search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, and many more.

The main reason you want good SEO is that it drives organic traffic to your website. This means that as long as it is done well, people will be able to find your website whenever they search for your services or products.

Many business owners tend to focus only on surface-level digital marketing by using social media ads and such. The main issue with advertising is that you are forcing your presence into a lot of people instead of just committed potential customers.

This is not discrediting digital advertising, it just pointing out that they are different.

Advertising is to catch customers that are cold leads or warm leads, which means that they have no or little interest in your offer before seeing your ad. SEO catches hot leads, which means that these are potential customers that are actively looking for what your business offers.

Both are a great marketing strategy, which should be used hand in hand, but the latter is usually underused and it is objectively better from a business perspective.

Good SEO and google ads is the killer combo you want to work your way up to.

The more you appear on organic search results the more traffic your website will get, the more traffic you get means more customers, and more customers will mean more money and profit for your small business.

Should you be investing in SEO?

You can always try doing SEO by yourself but this will be a hard, lengthy process of self-education. It will mostly depend on whether you want to spend the time trying to see if it works instead of just paying for SEO.

SEO has a great return on investment (ROI) when implemented well. It can drive your sales or conversions far greater than it cost. It will set your business ahead of the competition and will also make it stand out on its own. This is the main reason SEO is worth what is worth.

Organic search is still the most used digital marketing channel, being used 49% of the time when people are looking for something. Utilizing other marketing channels is also a great valid idea but they fall in comparison:  Social media 18%, Email marketing 14%, Paid Search 19%.

It can also take advantage of local rank in your city or state by using local SEO, this is mostly an aspect of an SEO campaign, it has its own features and benefits but can always be employed together for better results.

How much does this service cost?

Hands stretching a dollar

These services vary depending on who is doing them, what they are offering, and the quality of them. It can go anywhere from a few dollars to hundreds and even thousands. You have to put into consideration that the whole optimization process is a mix of on-site website work, off-site work, reaching out to administrators of other websites, copywriting knowledge, content marketing knowledge, and more technical factors.

It is a service that requires consistency, but its effect is also long lasting.

SEO tools can be expensive by themselves, we ourselves use Semrush, you can also look into other alternatives like Ahrefs, Moz. You want to know what you are paying for and what you are getting out of the service. The main factors to look out for in SEO strategy providers are theses:

SEO Audit

Transparency is key, you want to make sure the SEO Company or SEO specialist can perform and show you audits of your website, that way you can see for yourself how search engines look at your site. It will also be somewhat a makeshift checklist of aspects that need to be fixed to increase your website’s health.

Content Marketing

You want to see if they are creating content for you (they should!). Blogs are a great way to build SEO-friendly content to drive more traffic to your website. Its quality will vary a lot depending on who is performing it, but you should be able to see in the audits if they are working out for your business.

Backlinks

Not all backlinks are built the same. Some can even hurt your ranking. A backlink is a link that comes from another website to yours. Google and other search engines use this to identify how legit your website is, it is basically a vetting process in which other sites vouch for yours.

How long should you try to do it?

Question mark chalked drawn

SEO is a long term marketing strategy. You can do some of its factors sporadically but to see good results you will have to do an SEO Campaign of at least 6 months. You can always do more but should never just do “nothing”. There are many factors that make the result appear slowly.

For example, Google will take time to update any changes you make to your website, it will also take time to see how people react to new content, it is also aware of short term strategies so it makes sure you keep bringing new content or getting backlinks consistently before rewarding you and so on.

Consistency is key if you want to see good results out of your SEO efforts.

Conclusion: Are they worth it or not?

Yes, SEO services are worth it. It will elevate your business and brand to heights you can’t imagine. Get professionals to the work they had both practiced and studied for. Trying to do it by yourself may work, but it is only recommended if you have the spare time to learn it and even then that time might be better spent focusing on your actual service or product.
